The Manawatū
Kia ora koutou and welcome!
The Manawatu region, located at the lower end of the North Island of New Zealand is a great place to discover, live and learn in.
It’s a region that is an exciting combination of open spaces, bustling city life–a perfect mix of rural life and city sights. Palmerston North is the biggest city in the Manawatu region and the city itself is home to just over 83,000 people. There are plenty of other towns that can be found within the region itself and they have plenty to offer also.
Palmerston North offers a diverse community with more than 130 languages spoken in the city. In our city you’ll find cultural and shopping opportunities along with culinary delights that are second to none.
The bustling city pace is complemented by our large rural hinterland. Manawatu is a strong and proud farming community with dairy, sheep, beef and cropping farms all prospering on the fertile plains of the region.
Kairanga School is located just five minutes from the Palmerston North city boundary and is surrounded by the lush green pastures of productive farmland–this is just one of the things that makes Kairanga School so unique and attractive to international students.Another special feature is that our role is nearly a 50:50 mix of rural and urban children who thrive together in our learning environment.
The Manawatu offers a superb location from which to explore all that Aotrearoa has to offer–we’re a two hour drive to New Zealand’s capital city Wellington (also home to our nearest international airport),a two hour drive to ski fields and a three hour drive to the iconic Lake Taupō. The region is also framed by two mountain ranges, which offer untold hiking and outdoor opportunities. We look forward to you joining our family.
